In aid of NW Air Ambulance.  Monday 23rd May Before 10am to 20 Watling Street. Clothes collection- in association with ‘Clothes Line’ of Bury So now Spring has sprung, take the opportunity to have a  clear out and remember to leave your WELL sealed bags at  the end of 20 Watling St before 10am. NOTE: They collect good quality used ladies’, men’s and  children’s clothing and shoes, bedding (but not duvets),  curtains, belts and handbags. Sunday 12th June - 1.30pm French Boules Competition on the Village Green. This will be the 9th (International) Boules Competition since the first nail-biting one in 2003! There will be trophies for junior  and senior winners. French food and wine will be provided and you can even dress in French fancy dress if you wish (optional).  There will be a prize for the best costumes junior and senior. Please come along with family and friends to join fellow villagers  in this fun competition. There will be a small entrance fee to  play £3 per adult and £1 for children. It will be great to see  you on the day. Any profits go to village funds. Saturday 16th July    Affetside Summer BBQ from 6p.m. Village  Green.    This will be the 6th village  BBQ and we hope you and  your family and friends will  come to enjoy and support  the event. Excellent food  and a bar will be available  with dancing in the  marquee. Tickets will be  available nearer the time.  All profits will go to the Affetside Millennium Green Trust  which helps to maintain the village green for everyone’s  enjoyment. If you can’t attend the evening but would like to  buy a ticket/make a donation to support the village green  trust that would be appreciated as, without the support of the villagers, it would be impossible to keep our village green  looking as good as it is, and in a safe state for all visitors to  enjoy. Saturday 10th September    Affetside End of Summer BBQ from 6p.m.  Village Green.    This will be the first  village “End of Summer”  BBQ and is an additional  date due to popular  request. We hope you and your family and friends  will come to enjoy and  support the event.  Excellent food and a bar  will be available with dancing in the marquee. Tickets will be  available nearer the time. All profits will go to the Affetside  Millennium Green Trust which helps to maintain the village  green for everyone’s enjoyment. Saturday 5th November   Affetside village bonfire 6 p.m. on the land to rear of village green. Please join fellow villagers and enjoy Roseanne’s legendary  meat and potato pie, black  peas and hot dogs plus the  fully licensed bar. It is with  the kind permission of  Stephen Clague from West  Linton who owns the land  and the stable we use as the food servery and bar that we are able to hold our village bonfire. As you may have seen  Stephen has got his house up for sale and so if it is sold then the new owner may not be as community spirited as Stephen and we may lose our venue. We will keep you posted nearer the time. Monday 29th November 10am - Clothes Collection (deliver  to No. 20 before 10a.m.) As the above collection in May Sunday 4th December Santa’s BIG SWITCH ON The big switch on of Affetside Christmas  tree lights by Satan on the village green  at 6p.m. prompt! Santa always manages  to fit in quick a visit to the village at the  end of November to switch on the  Christmas tree lights and give presents to all village children and grandchildren. Be  there at 6p.m to see Santa come on his  tractor! Sunday 18th December  Carols Around The Christmas Tree With free mulled wine and mince pies on on the village green at 3.30p.m. accompanied  by Tottington Public Brass Band. Join fellow villagers  and friends and family to  sing all the favourite  carols at this festive time  of year and then warm  yourself with free mulled  wine and mince pies.
