This site is administered by both the Affetside Millennium Green Trust and the Affetside SocietyAffetside Primary's Sixth School ReunionSix years ago marked the emotional closure of Affetside's village primary school after a longbattle to keep the school open. Protesters, who pursued their cause all the way to the Court of Appeal of the High Court in London, lost their fight, but vowed to hold an annual outdoorreunion at the school's outdoorclassroom, the Affetside MillenniumGreen. Campaigner and villager, JoanneWilcock, alongside other villagers such as Roseanne and Tony Davies, has workedunceasingly to retain the school'smemory and to maintain village links and cohesion in the small hilltop community.The Affetside Society, in the wake of theschool's demise, is providing freerefreshments for any ex-staff, pupils,villagers or friends of Affetside PrimarySchool who wish to attend the reunion,which will be held on its usual date of 17th July at 4pm, come rain or shine. All are welcome to celebrate old friendships and to commemorate the special place the school held at the heart of the Affetside community.Affetside Village school past & present will form the basis of this page.
