Over the past three years the path has had its surface upgraded and overgrown vegetation cut back and now the lower part is being resurfaced. This is the old Packhorse Route to Rossendale and is referred to as Tom Nook, and also as Black Lane in many documents, and was even mentioned in the court rolls of 1531. In order to reduce this problem we were granted funding to buy a dog mess bag dispenser. This was kindly installed by our  Green Chairman, Tony, and was unveiled by both our local MP  David Nuttall and local Councillor Yvonne Wright. David was accompanied by his dalamation CeCe who was very  well behaved and thus David did not require the services of the new dispenser. We hope this will help to clear up the problem David Nuttall MP, CeCe and Cllr Yvonne Wright
